About Us
CMC combines offshore wind experience with structural, geotechnical, and concrete expertise to develop reinforced-concrete monopile foundations
Introducing CMC
CMC is a design, engineering, and manufacturing company pioneering concrete monopile foundations for the offshore wind industry.
By preserving the simplicity and scalability of the monopile concept while transforming the material system, CMC delivers a next-generation foundation solution with reduced dependence on steel, lower lifecycle carbon impact, and competitive project economics — without compromising offshore performance.

Founding Story
Founded in 2023, CMC brings together specialists in structural engineering, geotechnics, precast concrete manufacturing, and offshore wind development with a shared ambition: to rethink monopile foundations using advanced concrete technology. By combining these disciplines with one of the world’s most proven and scalable construction materials, CMC is developing a new generation of offshore wind foundations designed to improve manufacturability, reduce dependency on steel, and lower lifecycle impact.
In 2025, CMC and its project partners — Vattenfall, KI Consulting Engineers, NGI, and Optum CE — received a DKK 19.8 million grant from Denmark’s Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (EUDP) to develop and validate the CMC concrete monopile concept.
Today, with precast concrete elements already entering production, CMC is progressing through the first phase of its technology roadmap, targeting a large-scale prototype installation in 2027 followed by a full-scale offshore demonstration.
The Team
Jørgen Krabbenhøft
CEO & co-founder
With a PhD in computational fluid and solid mechanics, Jørgen has built his career around understanding how structures behave under stress in harsh environments.
He combines engineering depth with a commercial mindset, and has helped establish two successful companies: Optum CE, delivering advanced analysis and design software for geotechnical and structural engineers, and KI Consulting Engineers, providing specialist structural engineering consultancy services.
Partner & co-founder
Kristian is a geotechnical specialist with a PhD in civil engineering and a background spanning both academia and applied research.
He has served as an Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle and as Professor and Chair of Geomechanics at the University of Liverpool.
His research and expertise cover computational geomechanics, offshore geotechnics, and constitutive modelling—supporting CMC with advanced insight into soil–structure interaction and foundation behaviour.
Partner & co-founder
Einar holds a PhD in structural engineering and dynamics and brings a strong blend of analytical capability and hands-on project experience.
His work spans complex engineering projects and the design of large commercial and industrial structures, including renewable energy facilities, bridges, and overhead line structures.
At CMC, he contributes a practical structural perspective focused on performance, constructability, and real-world delivery.
Karsten Rewitz
Advisor
Karsten brings extensive leadership experience from the precast concrete industry, with deep expertise in concrete elements and production.
For more than a decade he served as CEO of Contiga Tinglev A/S (now Heidelberg Materials Precast Denmark), where he worked with precast concrete solutions and sustainability in concrete construction.
At CMC, he supports the team with practical industrial insight into manufacturing, scaling, and concrete value-chain execution.
Our Partners

Vattenfall is a leading wind energy developer in Northern Europe, operating more than 1.400 wind turbines across 5 European countries.
Vattenfall brings extensive offshore wind expertise to the team and ensures that the foundation design is aligned with industry practices and developer expectations.

KI Consulting Engineers is an international structural engineering consultancy focused on the design and development of advanced structural systems for the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Drawing on extensive offshore wind experience and deep knowledge of DNV standards, KI Consulting Engineers plays a key role in the structural development and validation of the CMC monopile concept — ensuring compliance with internationally recognized offshore design standards.

NGI is a world-leading independent research and consulting institute within geotechnical engineering and engineering geosciences.
With decades of offshore wind and offshore foundation experience, NGI contributes advanced expertise in geotechnic analysis, soil behaviour, and soil-structure interaction to support the engineering and validation of the CMC concrete monopile concept.
